It depends on the nature of a task, if an application is performing conventional work but with huge CPU utilization then clustering is preferred, or kubernetes architecture (hardware based scalability) for a huge scale application.
A thread-based application requires different nature of a work where an event-driven architecture is also helpful in communication otherwise I prefer asynchronous programming when awaiting and intercommunication is not required.
